Outer Banks Vacation Tips

Planning your first Outer Banks vacation and want to get the most out of your visit? Maybe you’ve been drawn back for another stay. Most do come back for another stay. Some come back and never leave.

If you have stayed here before and are coming back for the second time, you may know exactly how and where to stake your claim for a one or two week obx return. Of course, the impulse to move here permanently will have gone through your head.

If this is you, a visit to a local real estate agent could be in the works. Otherwise, you can make your reservations for next year when you drop off the key.

Vacation rentals are important here. This place is all about vacation.

Outer Banks Vacation Only?

Finding a good place to stay on the outer banks is as easy as finding someone that knows this place well. There are more vacation rental people on this small stretch of the Atlantic than piping plovers and turtles nesting on the shores of hatteras. That’s a lot of people. They do know this place well and their livelihoods depend on getting you here.Beach At Kill Devil Hills It is there job to get you here and find the right place to meet your expectations. The people that live and work here depend on them getting it done.

Short term vacation rentals range from the quite and secluded to the center of it all. So, if you have a pretty good idea of what you’ll be doing when you get here then all you will have to do is pick one of the seven unique places here on the Outer Banks to stay.

-Nags head, Kill Devil Hills, and Kitty Hawk

This is the center of theNorth Carolina outer banks. Vacation rentals are plentiful here and there are some great deals. There are plenty of things to do here and the rest of the outer banks can be covered with some will planned day trips.

-Corolla and Points north

Corolla is just a little farther up the road and the farthest point of travel before hitting the Virginia boarder. Corolla is a little more exclusive when it comes to outer banks vacation rentals. The beaches seem to stretch on forever and are a little more secluded. IF you like four wheeling, horses and no other sound than the Atlantic surf, then this may be the place for you.

-Roanoke Island

This place is my personal favorite. Just across the bridge from nags head, the history of the first English settlements and the stories from the depths come alive with the Lost Colony and the Roanoke Aquarium.

-Duck

The little village at the end of the bridge with its private beaches, great shopping and restaurants. Forget the car; everything here is actually in walking distance or at least leisurely biking distance.

-Southern Shores

The Outer Banks burbs.

-Hattaras

This is where things get wild in the natural sense. Most of it is owned and tightly controlled by the federal government.

-Oakracoke and Heading South

Find plenty of photos, local stories and helpful ideas on where to stay and the many things to do here on the Outer Banks

What Will You Do On Your Outer Banks Vacation?

The Outer Banks may be only a few yards wide in a few places but it’s about a hundred miles in length.Pier From The Air

It stretches from the four wheel drive wilds above Corolla NC in the north to the quite sleepy village of Oakracoke, in Hyde County on the southern end. The things you may do here vary as much as the unique way of life you’ll find in each of the small towns that dot its length.

Outer Banks vacation activities are what this place is really about.

From wading in the calm waters of the sound to extreme water sports like surfing, wind sailing and kite boarding.

This place is wrapped in history and nature. You can create your own day trip or take one of the many organized tours that are available on the water, land and in the air.
